... and I thought of SLR ...

"practice, perseverance and patience are the 3Ps of photography" - my own quote :)
and I believed it and stood by it.

"city lights"
a night shot with 1sec exposure with Sony DSC S730
lessons learnt: your camera may be entry level, but that shouldn't stop you from experimenting.

I was introduced to photography in 2006 when I brought a Sony point and shoot. I loved clicking and I was getting hooked on to Trekking and Travelling, and all these three hobbies complimented each other.  All I had was an entry level point and shoot and it could do only so much, but that never stopped me from experimenting.

"lost in her own world"
she was reluctant to move out of the frame and I composed the picture with her :)
lessons learnt: a sense of scale in landscapes is quite an important aspect.. try including people in the frame, wherever possible, to give the grandeur to the landscape.

"poser"
macro attempt with a point and shoot.
lessons learnt: insects are pretty sensitive, and you should be very careful not to disturb them while getting as close as you can.

"walk on virgin snow"
Sarpass trek with YHAI, in Kullu district of Himachal. May 2010.
lessons learnt: leading lines play a major role in making a image captivating, like the ridge here is leading the eye to the center.. plus as snow reflects the sunlight, be careful to check the histogram for proper exposure.

"as the dusk sets"
a walk along the shores of Berijam lake, Kodaikanal. Dec 2009.
lessons learnt: low light is not an issue if you have steady hands :) and even a point and shoot can give you a dreamy image.

Somewhere I noticed some of my images looked better than others and when I asked myself why, I could see a change, I started getting choosy in what I shoot and what I share.
Though I was happy with the point and shoot, the sheer opportunities a SLR provided was always tempting, and  already I was thinking, is it time for a SLR yet?
